USPA Canopy Proficiency 5 Jump Course

In order to obtain a USPA ‘B’ licence and above, it is now required to complete a USPA Canopy Proficiency Course consisting of 5 hop and pop jumps.  At Leading Edge, we take it to the next level by ensuring that all our students leave with enough knowledge to be a safe canopy pilot.  For that reason, we include extra theory blocks in the ground-school and also video each approach and landing for debriefing purposes afterwards.

Ground-school including aerodynamics, equipment, flying techniques, hazards and how to avoid them and much more, is combined with 5 hop and pop jumps between 5000ft - 7000ft. On each jump, you will be required to perform a series of in-air exercises set out by the USPA.  These are to help learn the range, performance and limits of your canopy. Flying and landing techniques are also introduced to increase the level of efficient flying and safe, dynamic landings. All landings and approaches are videos and fully debriefed step-by-step to enable you to fully understand how to improve your technique.  You can take these away on a DVD at the end of your course.
